Eva organized a fantastic, truly valuable and inspiring team day for our team of pediatric neurologists.

Impressive how she read the room and gave everyone space.

Michèl Willemsen · Professor of Pediatric Neurology · Radboudumc

Eva guided me in a wonderful way as I prepared for a presentation and interview at NWO. Her approach is creative, personal and fully tailored to who I am. She creates space for personal growth and knows exactly how to bring out your strengths, without imposing anything.

Years ago she helped me with my Veni application, and now again with my Vidi.

Not only did she introduce me to techniques that support me in other situations as well, but she also found a warm and respectful way to think along about the content of my research. That connection meant I could deliver my story with even more conviction and emotion.

What also makes Eva unique is her ability to treat your vulnerabilities not as an obstacle, but as a strength. She helps you stay honest and authentic, which makes your story not only stronger, but also more genuine and more convincing.

On top of that, Eva has a deep understanding of the uncertainties, nerves and dilemmas that come with such a process. Her guidance was invaluable, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone who wants to be optimally prepared for an important moment.

This training was an absolutely brilliant experience! The concept is innovative. Eva and Audrey’s coaching is exceptional, providing a safe and supportive environment that I have never found anywhere else. A unique opportunity to truly improve.

About the practice day ‘Speak up in Dutch’

Hugo Berreni · Principal Second Violin · Noord Nederlands Orkest

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Eva on my presentation skills for research grant applications and more broadly for presenting for specific audiences. Eva’s workshop and her feedback helped me to critically reflect on and improve the form and content of my presentations. Also, the workshops were very enjoyable and gave me extra confidence. I would much recommend Eva’s workshops to those who seek to reflect on and improve their presentation skills.

Brenda Mathijssen · Vice-Dean and Director of Education & Associate Professor of Geography and Psychology of Religion at the Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society · University of Groningen

I can really recommend Eva as a trainer and coach. She coached me at my start as a professor at Hanze University of Applied Sciences and helped me to feel more comfortable in my new role. Although these sessions were online only, I could feel her commitment and warm personality. In a group, I also had the change to practice presentation skills. Eva is an inspiring trainer, who sets the bar high for the one she trains.

Together with Sacha van den Hoed (sleep coach and hormone therapist) I give workshops about menopause and its impact on the workplace. We give these workshops to women and to managers within organizations in the Northern Netherlands.

We both felt the need for guidance and coaching on how to present more powerfully in front of a group. That’s why we decided to take a VIP day together under Eva’s guidance. And we have not regretted it for a single moment.

Eva took extremely good care of us. It was a fully catered day at her home with an adjoining training space in Winschoten. She gave us tips on voice use, how to stand in front of a group, how to keep your nerves under control, but she also looked at our PowerPoint in terms of layout, animations, what to mention on a slide and what not to.
And she does all of this on a tailored basis, so she looked at where our needs lay.

In short, this day was absolutely worth it. We went into our next presentation with much more confidence. We will certainly benefit from this for years to come. We recommend this VIP day to everyone!

I encountered Eva as one of the trainers of a workshop on presenting a grant proposal given at the University of Groningen. Eva is an enthusiastic and inspiring coach. With a background as a professional actor and singer, she is very well aware that communication is not only about content, but also about the way in which you communicate, something that academics like me can easily forget. What I found really inspiring is that her methods and techniques showed me that there is not a trade-off between content and presentation but that they are in fact complementary! It was inspirational to see by how much your performance can improve by applying some of her techniques: she showed me how you can simultaneously improve your connection with your audience AND improve the communication of your content. She also understands the broader principles behind communication, and is therefore very well capable of tailoring her advice to your specific situation or personality. And she gives further credence to her techniques by drawing from her own experience: she does not just tell you what to do, but importantly also tells you why. I therefore highly recommend her as a coach!

I just wanted to thank you for today’s workshop. It honestly made my day and completely changed how I felt about presentation workshops. I was nervous before coming, but the way you led the session made me feel comfortable and engaged.

When you mentioned that you had another session afterward, I honestly felt like I wanted to stay and listen again. The workshop gave me a really positive feeling and helped me build confidence that I’ve been missing for a long time.

Thank you again for your energy, support, and the way you created such a welcoming atmosphere.

Eva delivered a training in Presentation Techniques for us, confidential advisors at Alliander. I thoroughly enjoyed the way she approaches this. Plenty of room for personal input, no mandatory elements and if something doesn’t feel right, that’s perfectly fine. The effect of ‘not having to’ is precisely that I feel safe to experiment, to do what I normally avoid. Standing up without preparation and without visuals and just doing it. What I appreciated about the setup is that Eva, through her personality and personal approach, quickly becomes part of the group. She doesn’t feel like the trainer but like a colleague. So in short: a very accessible training that I got a lot out of and that definitely helped me move forward. Thank you Eva!

I absolutely loved the Sparkle When You Speak workshop; it was both fun and inspiring! As a communication student, I thought I already knew a lot about presenting, but Eva showed me in a creative and engaging way that there’s always more to learn. She shared practical tips and exercises that I can apply immediately, helping me feel more confident and relaxed while speaking. I’d definitely recommend her workshop to anyone looking to improve their presentation skills.

I participated in Eva’s workshop ‘Sparkle when you pitch’ in January and April 2024 as part of the Winter School for PhDs of the Faculty of Law at the University of Groningen. Eva’s workshop was undoubtedly the best and the most useful part of the Winter School. I greatly improved my public speaking skills thanks to Eva’s careful approach and individually-targeted advice. Eva leads by example being a talented story-teller herself. She taught us the main components of a successful pitch and gave tips on how to reduce stress in front of an audience. Eva offered an opportunity for everyone to present a short pitch and then allowed other participants to provide positive feedback and mention points of attention. She always asked if the person presenting was comfortable with making a speech and receiving feedback, which was very kind and nice of her. If you are a shy person, Eva will definitely make you feel comfortable and will help you to improve your public speaking skills

Anastasiia Liulina · PhD candidate at the Faculty of Law · University of Groningen

As a PhD candidate, I attended the workshop ‘Sparkle When You Pitch’. I highly recommend this course, as Eva teaches all participants practical techniques to deal with nerves, voice, body language, and pitch structure. On top of that, with her warm, empathetic and genuine attitude, Eva creates a safe space for everyone during the workshop. At first sight, I thought that the sessions would be about pitching, and as a PhD candidate I wanted to learn more about ‘how to pitch’. After all, any researcher will have to pitch their ideas or research one day – be it at a conference, during dinner or at an informal social event. However, I learnt more than only pitching after two sessions. Means and methods to effectively communicate, having the courage to put yourself out there and embracing vulnerability were key themes to me, and I still use many techniques these days in both my professional and daily life. In my opinion, any PhD candidate should attend her workshop!

I came into the day feeling a little tense, because speaking remains loaded even after 18 years of speaking Dutch. And now? Now I simply look forward to speaking in front of groups.

What I learned here: the richness of your own culture and language is not a handicap, but an asset.

Eva has a unique way of helping you discover the joy of speaking within yourself. Gentle, loving and powerful at the same time. Throughout the day I felt what is already going well, and that alone gives you wings.

My most valuable insight of the day: don’t speak what people want to hear, but the way you want to tell it.
